Individual and Couples
Counselling

Hello and Welcome

Would you like to improve your relationships with others so that you feel more respected, connected, and loved? Do you want to understand yourself and others better? Do you want to heal and move forward in your life? All of us at some point could use help navigating the inevitable challenges that life presents. Positive change in your life is possible and you have already taken the first step by searching to see what help is available.

During the last ten years I have worked in a provincial treatment centre, a community mental health clinic, and a regional health authority crisis program. I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and post graduate training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Attachment, Solution Focused Treatment, as well as Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My clinical work includes complex trauma, risk assessment, and crisis management. I specialize in supporting people to improve the relationship they have with themselves which leads to healthier and more satisfying relationships with others.

Choosing a counsellor and reaching out can feel confusing and overwhelming. I know because I have sat on both sides of the counselling room. Wherever you are on your journey, just know that help is available.

FAQ

FAQ

How long are the appointments?

Appointments are 50 minutes in length. You will be provided a free initial 20 minute consultation where you have an opportunity to share a little about what has been going on for you, learn about my background and the work that I do, ask any questions you may have, and determine yourself whether you feel you would like to do some work together.

Are the counselling sessions confidential?

Throughout the course of treatment secure clinical records will be kept as a means of tracking your progress and making treatment plan revisions as required. You may request access to these records at any time. These records and the information obtained are confidential. I will not share any information with anyone without your permission. Three specific exceptions to this confidentiality include disclosure being necessary to prevent imminent death or serious harm to you or an identified other, mandatory reporting of suspected cases of a child being in need of protection, or when ordered to do so by law.

How long does counselling last?

The length of therapy is different for everyone and is related to the nature of the challenges or difficulties you are experiencing. Brief therapy can range from 1 to 2 sessions and up to 6 to 10 sessions. Longer term therapy may be required for certain presenting concerns such as addiction or abuse. Relationship issues can sometimes require more than 10 sessions.

How to book an appointment?

Click on the BOOK AN APPOINTMENT button on the home screen and you will be redirected to Jane App which is a professional secure platform used for booking, scheduling, and payment. A credit card will be required at the time of booking your appointment. Your session payment will be processed on the day of the appointment. Jane is fully encrypted which means that all of your information is completely secure.

How much does counselling cost?

The cost is $150.00 per 50 minute session. If you are experiencing financial hardship please reach out directly as I believe everyone deserves access to help and in those circumstances, offer a sliding scale fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation notice is required at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the cost of a full session is charged. If there is no notice of cancellation and a ‘no show’ (not showing up for your scheduled appointment) then the full cost of the session is charged.

Do my extended health benefits cover counselling?

Extended health programs are not billed directly. If you have an extended health plan that covers counselling expenses provided by a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) you will be provided with an official receipt at the time of payment which you can submit to your provider for reimbursement. Not all health insurance companies have the same coverage plans so please check with your provider for specific coverage.

Referrals
